Question: My company has singled me out for a salary reduction. No other staff have been advised of cuts. At the same time the company has hired new staff at much higher salaries than myself. What are my legal options.
NB :No written notice was given to me
Answer:
You will have a very strong case of unfair labour practice which you will need to pursue through the auspices of the CCMA as no employer may selectively reduce salary without your consent while simultaneously hiring further staff on more excessive salary packages. Bear in mind that all unfair labour practice referrals to the CCMA must be done within a 90 day period from date of incident.

My employer has moved the complete company to Zimbabwe. The company name will no longer exist, as they are engaging in a 50/50 joint venture with a totally new existing company in Zimbabwe. They have retrenched all employees. They have offered me a position in the new company in Zimbabwe, The problem is, they will not pay my retrenchment pakage from the old company to me now, but will only pay this out to me three weeks after I have relocated to Zimbabwe. They have two other companies in South Africa, in Cape town. I was employed as general manager, and have four years service. I have recieved a letter from them stating this. What can I do. In prinsiple we had verbally agreed for me to go to Zimbabwe, but they now refuse to honer the verbal salary offer, and offer only 75% of the origional offer.
