Question: I’m a white woman with a black male boss. Everytime I try to organize promotions at work or something to generate business in our office he has some sort of problem and tries his best to put a pole in the works. He always has a problem with me and my collegues both black and white have also started picking this up and were the first to say they feel he is being racist. What can I do, my work situation is getting worse and I feel so demoralised? Im trying and my manager keeps knocking me down.

Answer: Well, unfortunately your current situation is not going to change much as, unless your boss is involved in a fatal car accident, he is still going to be your boss. My suggestion would be to discuss your predicament with a person more senior within the company i.e. Your bosses superior. Other than laying internal grievances and/or CCMA matters, which will only cause further discord, this would be your best bet. If the situation is one whereby your boss is the top dog then I suggest you actively seek alternative employment. Reverse apartheid is very common in many companies and extremely difficult to deal with at all levels.
