Working Hours Half Day

Question: my wife started working as a receptionist at a doctors room as a halfday worker. I would like to know what hours she is suppose to work per week/month. she is currently working from 8:00 till 13:30 (5,5 hours) a day. She must now also work every second saturday from 8:00 to 12:00. She does not receive any extra or overtime payment. I am of the opinion that they are not fair and misusing her.

Answer: Average monthly working hours are equated to 192 hours. If your wife is within these requirements then the employer is not at fault and I see no valid reason for the employer to be taken to task. Basic conditions of employment state that on a weekly basis there are 40 standard hours and a maximum of 10 overtime hours. Again, unfortunately the employer is not obliged to pay overtime as on average your wife is working a 27.5hour week.
