Forced to Sign Restrait of Trade

Question: Im an account executive for a freight company who have requested me to sign a restraint of trade, am I as an employee of a company forced to sign?

Answer: My suggestion is this – sign it. Nowadays”s due to current court cases and stances they are extremely difficult & costly (circa R30K for initial lodging via civil court) to enforce and the success rate is very low. One cannot restrict a persons ability to be employed. Unless you deliberately leak confidential company info, pricing etc… And/or poach its clients there is no other issues that would hold you back bud. If you do not sign it will be taken as you are not loyal or committed to company or have hidden agendas.
