Division Change

Question:

My sister has been employed by the same Company for eleven years. In April her boss called her and informed her that she needs to work for another division meaning that she should swap with the lady working there.

She agreed but said they won’t give her the same salary as the lady although she is doing all the work she was doing. After several negotiations they increased the salary she is not happy still because the salary is not the same as the one paid for the lady who was working in the same division. What should she do?

Answer:

She accepted the transfer and as long as her salary is not less than what she was earning in the previous position, she would not have a strong claim.  Nothing in law forces a person to be paid the same salary as another person in a similar position as salary’s may be dependent on education, experience and length of service.
